- 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1½ cups halal BBQ sauce
- ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
- ¼ cup honey
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (halal)
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- Pinch of cayenne (optional for heat)
- Burger buns or slider rolls, for serving
- Coleslaw, pickles, or extra BBQ sauce for topping (optional)
Instructions
- Place chicken breasts in the crockpot.
- In a bowl, mix BBQ sauce, apple cider vinegar, honey, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, and cayenne if using.
- Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken, coating it well.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until chicken is fully cooked and tender.
- Shred the chicken with two forks directly in the crockpot and mix well with the sauce.
- Serve on buns with coleslaw or your favorite toppings.
Notes
- For extra heat, leave in a pinch of cayenne or add hot sauce to the sauce.
- Best served on soft buns with coleslaw and pickles.
- Leftovers store in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days; reheat gently in the microwave or on the stove.
- You can shred the chicken directly in the crockpot to keep it juicy and saucy.
