Description

Sweet Chili Chicken is a quick, flavorful main dish featuring tender chicken tossed in a sticky, sweet, and mildly spicy chili sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breast or thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or sesame oil
  • 1 cup sweet chili sauce (halal-friendly)
  • 2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger
  • 12 tsp chili flakes (optional, for extra heat)
  • Sliced green onions and sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Pat chicken dry, then toss with cornstarch until evenly coated.
  2. Heat oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook until golden and cooked through, about 5–7 minutes.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, ginger, and chili flakes.
  4. Pour sauce mixture over the cooked chicken, tossing to coat evenly. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  5. Remove from heat and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

  • For gluten-free, use gluten-free soy sauce or tamari.
  • If you like more heat, increase chili flakes to 2–3 tsp or add a dash of hot sauce.
