Description
Pepperoni Pizza Pumpkins are fun, festive bite-sized pastries that bring spooky flair to Halloween or Thanksgiving parties, combining a crispy puff pastry shell with gooey cheese and pepperoni.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 sheet gluten-free puff pastry or crescent dough (halal-friendly)
- ½ cup pizza sauce
- ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 8–10 slices halal pepperoni, chopped
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- Optional: small pretzel sticks or green bell pepper stems for pumpkin stems
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the puff pastry and cut into circles using a cookie cutter or glass. You’ll need an even number of circles.
- On half of the circles, add a small spoonful of pizza sauce, mozzarella, and chopped pepperoni—leave a small border around the edges.
- Place another pastry circle on top and press edges together to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges.
- Use a knife to lightly score pumpkin-like ridges on the top of each pocket.
- Brush each with egg wash. Insert a pretzel stick or small bell pepper stem at the top for the pumpkin stem.
- Bake for 15–20 minutes or until golden brown and puffy.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Tip: Use halal-certified pepperoni and puff pastry if needed for halal diets.
- For a fun Halloween display, cut the pastry circles with a small pumpkin face before sealing for a ghost-cut effect.
