Description

Halloween Brookies: A chewy, fudgy mashup of brownies and cookies topped with spooky Halloween candies.


Ingredients

  • 1 box brownie mix (plus eggs, oil, and water as called for on the box)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • ½ cup Halloween-themed candy (like candy eyeballs, orange & black M&M’s, crushed Oreos, sprinkles)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. Prepare the brownie batter according to the box instructions. Pour into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, mix melted butter with brown sugar and granulated sugar until smooth. Add egg and vanilla and stir until combined.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture to form the cookie dough. Fold in chocolate chips.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of cookie dough over the brownie batter and gently swirl or press them into the top.
  7. Decorate with Halloween candies and gently press them into the top.
  8. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the top is golden and the center is just set. Let cool completely before cutting into bars.
