Description

Eyeball Brownies are a creepy-cute addition to your Halloween spread. Fudgy brownies topped with white chocolate, candy eyes, and red gel icing for a bloodshot effect make these treats both spooky and scrumptious. Perfect for parties, kids, and last-minute Halloween fun!

Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp baking powder
  • ½ cup white chocolate chips or candy melts
  • 12 candy eyeballs (store-bought or homemade)
  • Red gel icing (for bloodshot effect)
  • Optional: colored frosting or icing to create irises

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix melted butter and sugar until smooth. Add eggs and vanilla and beat well.
  3. Stir in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder until just combined.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  5. Bake for 22–25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs. Cool completely.
  6. Cut brownies into 12 squares or circles using a cookie cutter.
  7. Melt white chocolate and spoon small circles on top of each brownie. Immediately press a candy eyeball into the center of each.
  8. Use red gel to create bloodshot lines radiating from the eye. Add colored icing around the eyeball for extra detail, if desired.
  9. Let set before serving or chilling.

Notes

  • Let brownies cool completely before decorating to ensure the eyes set properly.
  • Decorate soon after cooling or chill briefly to help the decorations set.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.
  • To make smaller eyeballs, cut into 24 pieces and adjust decoration accordingly.
