Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground chicken
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 small green bell pepper, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp halal Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tsp Cajun seasoning
- ½ tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- ¼ tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
- 4–6 hamburger buns, toasted
- Optional: sliced pickles, shredded lettuce, or creamy slaw
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add ground chicken and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
- Stir in onion, bell pepper, and garlic. Sauté for 3–4 minutes until softened.
- Add tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, Cajun seasoning, paprika, salt, pepper, and cayenne (if using). Stir well.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens.
- Toast the buns, then spoon the saucy chicken mixture onto each.
- Top with pickles, slaw, or lettuce if desired, and serve hot.
Notes
- Halal Worcestershire sauce is used to keep it halal-friendly.
- For more heat, increase cayenne or Cajun seasoning.
- Leftovers refrigerate well for up to 3 days.
