Description

Cheeseburger Casserole is a quick, one-pot pasta dinner that captures all the flavors of a classic cheeseburger in just 30 minutes.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1½ cups elbow macaroni (uncooked)
  • 2 cups beef broth (or chicken broth)
  • 1½ cups milk
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • Chopped pickles or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet or pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned.
  2. Add onion and garlic; sauté until softened, about 3–4 minutes.
  3. Stir in uncooked macaroni, broth, milk, tomato sauce, ketchup, mustard, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  4. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 12–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender and sauce is thickened.
  5. Stir in 1½ cups of the cheese until melted and combined.
  6. Sprinkle remaining cheese on top, cover for 1–2 minutes until melted.
  7. Garnish with chopped pickles or parsley if desired, then serve hot.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground turkey for the beef.
  • For extra creaminess, use milk with a higher fat content or add a splash of cream.
  • Leftovers refrigerate well for 3–4 days; reheat in microwave or on the stovetop.
  • Uncooked macaroni is cooked directly in the sauce; if using another pasta shape, adjust liquid and cooking time accordingly.
