  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or your favorite cheese blend)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/3 cup plain yogurt or sour cream
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • Optional: chopped chives or parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder.
  3. Stir in the shredded cheese, reserving a small handful for topping.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, egg, yogurt (or sour cream), and olive oil.
  5. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir just until combined—do not overmix.
  6. Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan and sprinkle the remaining cheese on top.
  7. Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Slice and serve warm or at room temperature.
  9. Optional garnish: sprinkle chopped chives or parsley before serving.
